Why Wide Basketball Shoes for Men?

Many players with wide feet tend to prefer extra wide basketball shoes. The reason behind such an act is that unlike our common basketball shoes, wide basketball shoes have some significant advantages. When it comes to deciding the type of basketball shoes that is best for a player, one needs to look at the type of player an individual is. Power players, that is, those who attack and shoot the basket require wide basketball shoes, that are heavier and impart more cushioning, support and durability to the shoes. Being of larger width, wide basketball shoes allow a player with wider feet to adjust his feet with tremendous ease and flexibility inside the shoes, without creating any issues of decreasing the grip on the ground. For all round players and power players, cushioning acts as a great advantage in wide basketball shoes. Moreover, these shoes also allow excellent breathing mechanisms thereby decreasing sweating inside the shoes or preventing risk of any fungal infections.

Extra wide basketball shoes are specifically designed large sized shoes and if they fit you, then they are always a great option. They will absorb shock and safeguard your ankles and feet from injuries. Imagine wearing tight shoes for long hours and playing in an intense basketball match. Your blood circulation in feet and upper legs will not be adequate all through the game and you may end up performing poorly or suffering cuts or bruises in the feet. Continuous blood supply to the feet area is essential to keep the leg functioning effectively.

Steps to Grip a Squash Racquet

We’ll see the method of obtaining the right grip, and also how to get the right grip size to suit your hand.
•Step 1: Hold out your palm like you would, when giving a handshake. Place the racquet handle on your palm, parallel to your outstretched thumb.
•Step 2: Curl your fingers around the handle of the racquet. Spread your fingers a little to get a good grip.
•Step 3: Extend your thumb and index finger a little more towards the head of the racquet, so that they form a ‘V’ shape.
•Step 4: The part of the ‘V’ formed by your thumb should be parallel to the handle of the squash racquet. The index-finger should be diagonal to the handle.
The most important point to remember is that you should keep your wrist flexible when hitting shots. If you keep your wrist too stiff, then you may unnecessarily build tension in your forearms and your arms will tire easily and quickly.

There are many variations in the type of grip that you can use. The main factor to keep in mind is that you should be comfortable stroking the ball with the type of grip you choose to adapt. Some variations used in the grip are:
•Eastern Forehand/Backhand Grip
•Continental Grip
•Western Grip
•Semi-Western Grip
Confirming Your Grip
Hold the racquet tight enough, so that any side-to-side movement of the racquet in your hand, will be prevented by your palm and your firm grip. Holding the handle at the bottom is better to prevent the sideways motion of the racquet. Follow these two steps to ensure that you have understood the method of gripping the handle.
•Step 1: Apply pressure on the head of the racquet, in a direction perpendicular to the face of your palm, like the way the oncoming ball will hit your racquet. If you can resist this pressure with your index finger, then your grip is correct.
•Step 2: Now apply pressure from the other side. Like when the ball will hit the racquet when you are hitting a backhand shot. If you are able to balance the pressure with your thumb without having to keep your wrist stiff, then your grip is correct.

Teamwork and Social Skills

Another obvious benefit of team sports is to build teamwork and social skills. Working with a team towards a common goal – winning the game – is almost unintentionally teaching your teenager how to get along with his or her teammates. This is a very useful skill that can translate into doing group work with classmates, solving problems with siblings, and, later in life, participating in a team in his or her job. As the team works together, students learn valuable problem solving skills. On the team, they figure out how to get what they need and how to reach their goals. These problem solving skills can also benefit them in school and in their careers. Along with teamwork and problem solving comes the building of social skills. In order to participate on a team, athletes must communicate with their teammates. Practicing these communication skills can benefit teenagers as they figure out appropriate and not appropriate ways of communicating.

Family Time

A benefit of participation in team sports that is not entirely obvious is the extra family time that comes with sports. When a teenager is honing his or her skills for the team, this can be an excuse for parents and siblings to play catch in the yard and bond over the shared love of a sport. Watching your kids play sports can also lead to great family time in the bleachers, as well as when you go get some ice cream after the game. Families can also bond while being spectators at professional sporting events. Taking your student to see professional athletes can be a great family activity, as well as a fantastic learning activity for your young athlete.

Every Go Karting track has that one tricky turn, which can slip you out. That’s where the actual thrill of drifting can be felt and, that is where you should aim to drift on. However, you can drift when you are approaching any of the turns on the track. We will now jolt down a few steps you could use to drift your kart.

Drive in the Right Racing Line: When you want to drift your kart, which line you are driving on makes a lot of difference. To be able to drift at the right time and the right way, you need to drive on the exterior lane of the track keeping your kart straight.

Posture: You need to lean backwards when you are driving a go kart. This posture will make you firm in kart, giving you a better grip to handle the gas, break and the steering, efficiently and comfortably.

Lean on the Opposite Side: Then once you approach the corner move away from the turn at a good speed. While you are doing this you need to lean on the opposite direction. This means that if you are turning right you will lean on the left and vice versa.

Brakes & Accelerator: Now, before you actually go in the opposite direction make a sudden and strong move, back towards the turn. You do this by first applying the brakes softly and then releasing them and accelerating in the direction, following the track.

Pointing Your Wheels: Once you are done drifting, you need to make sure that your wheels are pointed towards the direction the track is flowing and keep going.

Once you have mastered drifting you can also block others form overtaking by drifting.

Indoor Skydiving

On arriving for your first ‘flight’, you will be given a briefing from an experienced instructor. This might involve you balancing ‘belly-down’ on a chair, in an attempt to create the perfect ‘flying shape’. Following this, you will change into your (usually psychedelic) flight suit, helmet, goggles and ear plugs (you will understand why you need these later) and you are then ready.

When it’s your turn to fly, you will stand at the doorway of the wind tunnel and, on your instructor’s say so, lean forward and fall into the airflow. You are now flying. The noise will be deafening and so your instructor will give you direction via some pre-determined hand signals (not dissimilar to those used in diving). You can control your flying by increasing or diminishing the drag of your body and by using your arms and legs as rudders. The best way to learn is to experiment and to think of yourself as an aeroplane (I was a B2 Bomber – slow and stealth-like).

You will usually get two one-minute sessions of flying, which might seem measly until you consider that a ‘real’ skydive, from a height of 10,000 feet, would only provide you with about 30 seconds of free fall. Hence you are getting the equivalent of four skydives.

Indoor skydiving is suitable for everyone. The instructors will consider your age, shape and ability level and set the wind speed accordingly. On average, the wind speed is just over 120 miles per hour. This matches the terminal velocity of a normal-sized human being falling from high above. With indoor skydiving it is necessary to create that same speed, but blowing air upwards.

If you catch the skydiving ‘bug’ you can sign up for further classes and learn how to do turns, rolls, formation flying and pretty much any acrobatic maneuver that you can think of. And all this at just a few feet from the ground.
