The New York Yankees have signed right-handed pitcher Peter Strzelecki to a minor league contract, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Strzelecki will report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after clearing waivers following his designation for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this week.
Strzelecki was signed by the Brewers in February and briefly added to their 26-man roster last Saturday. However, he was DFA’d the next day without appearing in a game. The right-hander elected free agency after clearing waivers, and his time on the market was short-lived. Now with the Yankees, Strzelecki returns to a team that is essentially his hometown, he was born in Queens and grew up in Florida.
Strzelecki made his MLB debut with the Cleveland Guardians in 2024, posting a 2.31 ERA in 11 2/3 innings. Over his MLB career, which includes stints with the Brewers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Guardians, Strzelecki has a 3.44 ERA, 24% strikeout rate, and 8.4% walk rate across 83 2/3 innings. His performance in the minors has been solid, but his fastball sits in the low-90s, which may limit his ceiling.
With the Yankees, Strzelecki joins a deep Triple-A bullpen and adds bullpen depth as the team navigates the final stretch of the season. However, he is out of minor league options, meaning any promotion to the majors would require a DFA, exposing him to waivers again. This lack of roster flexibility could lead to more back-and-forth between the majors and minors.
The move comes as the Yankees continue to manage their 40-man roster and evaluate potential late-season contributors. Strzelecki’s experience in the majors and familiarity with the New York area could make him a valuable option if the Yankees need a right-handed arm down the stretch.
Strzelecki is expected to report to Scranton later this week. The Yankees have until the end of the season to decide whether to promote him or keep him in Triple-A.

Seattle Torrent General Manager Meghan Turner announced Tuesday that the team has parted ways with head coach Steve O’Rourke. The decision comes after the club’s inaugural season in the Professional Women’s Hockey League, which saw the team finish in eighth place with 31 points.
