The U.S. Men’s National Team has officially unveiled its 26-player roster for the 2026 World Cup, marking the start of the journey toward hosting the tournament on American soil for the first time. The announcement took place during a live event in New York City on Fox, where players received their jerseys and hometowns were read aloud.
For many players, the announcement was the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. The roster includes 10 defenders, 6 midfielders, and 7 forwards, with only three goalkeepers making the cut. Players like Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams, and Weston McKennie are among the leaders of the squad. The U.S. will open the tournament on June 12 against Paraguay.
The jersey numbers for each player were also revealed during the event. Notable names include 10 for Pulisic, 7 for Gio Reyna, and 4 for Tyler Adams. The only player not in attendance was Chris Richards, who is preparing for Crystal Palace’s Europa Conference Final.
The U.S. roster features a mix of experience and youth. At 25, Malik Tillman is among the youngest players selected, while Tim Ream, at 36, brings veteran leadership. The squad also includes 13 players based in the United States, with the remaining 13 playing in Europe.
Mauricio Pochettino, the U.S. coach, has now selected the 26 players who will represent the nation. His statement on social media read: "Here to chase legacy on home soil. Mauricio Pochettino has selected the 26 players to represent the United States this summer."
The final deadline for submitting the roster to FIFA is June 1. After that, changes can only be made for injured or ill players. The first of two sendoff matches is set for this weekend against Senegal in Charlotte.
The U.S. team arrived in Atlanta last night and will begin training at the new Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center. They will then travel to Charlotte for their first match ahead of the World Cup. The ultimate goal remains clear: to prove themselves on home soil and be the last team standing on July 19.

San Antonio fell 127-114 to Oklahoma City in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals Tuesday as Victor Wembanyama shot his worst postseason mark at 27 percent from the field.
