NBA teams have not found any significant red flags in Darryn Peterson's medical evaluations as the Kansas guard continues to be projected as a top-two pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. According to ESPN's Jeremy Woo, Peterson is in contention for the No. 1 overall selection and remains the consensus best offensive player in the draft class.
The Washington Wizards have narrowed their focus at No. 1 to Peterson and BYU forward AJ Dybantsa, sources told ESPN. Peterson has made it clear to the Utah Jazz that he does not plan to take any additional team visits, signaling his preference to be selected first by Washington.
Peterson met with the Wizards in Los Angeles and worked out multiple times in front of senior decision-makers. He has also expressed a desire to play point guard in the NBA despite Trae Young being a key player for Washington. His vision, playmaking, and elite shooting ability make him a strong fit in any system.
Peterson started the season as ESPN's top-ranked prospect and averaged 16.8 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game in college. He shot 39.2% from three-point range despite battling cramping issues linked to high creatine use. His on-court production and leadership at Kansas have not wavered.
Utah remains a potential landing spot if Peterson is still available at No. 3. The Jazz could pair him with guard Keyonte George to strengthen their offense and improve their playoff chances. Peterson's decision to skip a workout with Utah is not seen as a major issue, as GM Granger Ainge selected Ace Bailey fifth last year without a pre-draft visit.
The 6-foot-3 guard has a 6-foot-7 wingspan and elite basketball IQ. Scouts compare his playmaking to Tyus Jones with the scoring upside of Cade Cunningham.
The Wizards have until Thursday to make their final decision at No. 1. With Peterson's medicals cleared and his preference for Washington made known, the stage is set for a blockbuster top-two selection in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The Miami Heat remain the frontrunners to land the two-time MVP, but the Milwaukee Bucks are holding out for a better offer. Boston Celtics have entered the mix, but their interest faces maj
