The Greensboro Swarm captured their first G League championship in franchise history by sweeping the Stockton Kings in the best-of-three G League Finals. Forward Tosan Evbuomwan was named Finals MVP after scoring 22 points in the decisive Game 2. The Swarm finished the season with a 33-15 record, the second-best in the league.
Greensboro entered the playoffs as the No. 2 seed and advanced through the Western Conference without dropping a game. The Swarm defeated the Lakeland Magic and Rio Grande Valley Vipers before facing Stockton in the Finals. Evbuomwan played a key role throughout the postseason, averaging 20.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
In Game 1 of the Finals, the Swarm secured a 106-93 victory behind 17 points from Evbuomwan. They returned home for Game 2 and closed the series with a 112-101 win. Evbuomwan dominated the second game with 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting and 11 rebounds. His performance capped a strong postseason in which he averaged 21.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
This is the first G League title for Greensboro, which entered the league in 2016 as the affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets have two G League titles in franchise history, with the former Iowa Energy winning in 2014 and 2015. Evbuomwan, who signed a two-way contract with the Hornets and Swarm in 2023, is now the first player in franchise history to win Finals MVP.
Evbuomwan's impact wasn't limited to the Finals. During the 2023-24 season, he averaged 18.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for Greensboro. His 22-point performance in Game 2 was the second-highest scoring game of the Finals. Stockton's leading scorer in the series was Deividas Sirvydis, who averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
The win marks a major milestone for the Swarm and their organization. Charlotte Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak praised the team’s effort and depth. “We’re proud of what the Swarm accomplished,” Kupchak said. “They showed great character and execution throughout the playoffs.”
Now the focus shifts to the NBA. Evbuomwan is eligible to be called up to Charlotte if a roster spot becomes available. The Hornets have until June 30 to make roster decisions for the 2024-25 season.

The San Antonio Spurs edged the Dallas Mavericks 114-109 on Friday night, but the story was not the win. It was Victor Wembanyama’s 40-point, 13-rebound performance in just 26 minutes, a calculated move to reach the 65-game threshold required for regular-season award eligibility.
