After going undrafted in the 2027 NFL Draft, Florida Gators defensive end Tyreak Sapp has signed with the Cleveland Browns, landing in a competitive situation that could give him a chance to make an NFL impact. Despite a solid college career and a strong Senior Bowl showing, medical concerns kept Sapp off NFL teams’ draft boards.
Sapp, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound edge rusher, tallied seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and 46 tackles in his final season with Florida in 2024. He was a disruptive presence at the point of attack and showed versatility by playing both as an end and a tackle. Though his production dipped slightly in 2025, his performance at the Senior Bowl raised his draft stock. Yet he still fell to the undrafted ranks.
Team sources indicated medical concerns were the primary reason for the slide. “We tried to sign him,” said an AFC director of college scouting. “Love the kid, edgy dude, loves ball.” While Sapp’s medical profile raised red flags for some teams, it did not deter the Browns from pursuing him.

Sapp will now compete for a roster spot opposite future Hall of Famer Myles Garrett. He joins a group that includes veterans Alex Wright, Isaiah McGuire, Julian Okwara, and fellow undrafted free agent Logan Fano. With Cleveland’s new coaching staff showing little loyalty to past draft picks, Sapp has a legitimate shot to earn significant playing time.
The Browns have a track record of developing undrafted talent, and Sapp’s physical traits and college production give him a chance to stick on an NFL roster. If he can win a role in training camp, he could quickly become a valuable rotational piece for the defense.

Sapp’s situation is part of a broader trend in this year’s draft, with several top prospects, including Tennessee’s Jermod McCoy and LSU’s Harold Perkins, falling short of expectations. As training camp approaches, Sapp’s performance will be closely watched by NFL scouts and fans alike.
