Grand Rapids 4, Chicago 3 (OT)
Michael Brandsegg-Nygård delivered the game-winning goal 9:22 into overtime to help the Grand Rapids Griffins escape elimination with a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Chicago Wolves in Game 3 of the Central Division finals on Tuesday night at Allstate Arena.
The 20-year-old rookie notched his fourth goal of the playoffs and third game-winner, using a backhander to beat Cayden Primeau after receiving a long outlet pass from Erik Gustafsson. The play started with a defensive-zone faceoff win by Sheldon Dries, setting up the decisive sequence in the extra frame.
Grand Rapids struck first, scoring twice in the opening 4:30. Carter Mazur and John Leonard gave the Griffins an early 2-0 lead. But the Wolves answered with a three-goal surge of their own. Domenick Fensore, Justin Robidas, and Felix Unger Sörum put Chicago ahead 3-2.

The Griffins clawed back with a late second-period equalizer from Tyler Angle, who returned to the lineup after being scratched in Game 2. Angle’s goal came at 7:14 of the second, tying the game at 3-3 and setting the stage for a high-octane finish.
Grand Rapids outshot Chicago 17-3 in the third period, but neither team could find the net. Michal Postava made 17 saves for the Griffins, while Primeau turned aside 42 shots in the losing effort.
The victory keeps the Griffins alive in the best-of-five series, with Chicago still leading 2-1. The next game is Thursday at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, with Grand Rapids looking to even the series at 2-2.

Brandsegg-Nygård’s heroics continue to define his playoff run, while Primeau remains one of the top goaltenders in the Calder Cup playoffs with five wins in eight appearances.
Game 4 is set for Thursday at 8:00 PM Eastern, with a potential Game 5 on Saturday in Grand Rapids.
