Worcester Railers 2, Maine Mariners 4
Indy Fuel 3, Fort Wayne Komets 4
Bloomington Bison 4, Iowa Heartlanders 2
The ECHL delivered a trio of thrilling matchups on April 15 with the Railers falling to the Mariners, the Fuel losing to the Komets, and the Bison dominating the Heartlanders. These games carried serious playoff implications with teams battling for positioning down the stretch.
Anthony Repaci led the Railers with a goal in their 2-4 loss to the Mariners. Repaci has tallied three goals in his last four games but was outplayed by Maine’s Brooklyn Kalmikov, who leads the series with 18 points (6g-12a). The Railers have been strong on the power play, ranking second in the league with 12 shorthanded goals, but could not overcome Maine’s home power play, which ranks second at 26.1 percent (35-for-134).
In Fort Wayne, Jesse Tucker posted three points (1g-2a) to lead the Fuel in a 3-4 loss to the Komets. William Dufour extended his goal streak to four games with a goal for the Komets, who outscored their opponents 83-62 in the third period this season. The Fuel struggled defensively, allowing 26.16 shots per game, while the Komets remained a consistent threat in the final frame.

Bloomington’s Nikita Sedov continued his stellar season, recording two assists in the Bison’s 4-2 win over Iowa. The Russian defenseman ranks second among ECHL blueliners with 57 points (13g-44a). Matthew Sop tallied four points (2g-2a) for the Heartlanders, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Bison, who are a dominant 21-7-0 when scoring first. Iowa, meanwhile, is 14-4-3 when leading after two periods, but that stat didn’t help in this matchup.
These games set the stage for a crucial stretch in the ECHL playoffs race. The Railers remain in the thick of the Northeast Division race while the Fuel and Heartlanders continue to fight for positioning in their respective conferences. The Bison, with their 35-29-5 record, are now within reach of a top-four seed in the Midwest Division.
Action continues Thursday with the Railers hosting the Komets and the Bison traveling to face the Mariners. Playoff seeding is tightening with each game, and the stakes only get higher.
