
The Chicago Wolves dropped Game 2 of the 2026 Calder Cup Finals 5-4 in overtime to the Toronto Marlies on Sunday at Allstate Arena, falling behind 2-0 in the best-of-seven series. Logan Shaw scored the game-winner in OT for Toronto, while Juuso Valimaki tallied two goals for Chicago.
The Wolves struck first, with Charles Alexis Legault scoring just 1:53 into the game on a shot that deflected off the post and past Marlies goaltender Artur Akhtyamov. Legault’s goal came with assists from Josiah Slavin and Noel Gunler. The Marlies responded quickly, with Benoit-Olivier Groulx tying the game at 1-1 just before the end of the first period.
Chicago reclaimed the lead late in the first on a power-play goal from Noah Philp, his sixth of the postseason. Robidas and Bradly Nadeau earned assists on the tally. Toronto then outscored Chicago 2-1 in the second period, with Alex Nylander converting on a penalty shot and Shaw adding an even-strength goal to make it 3-2.
The Wolves answered in the third with two late goals. Valimaki redirected a rebound of a Ryan Suzuki shot to tie the game at 3-3. Groulx then gave Toronto a 4-3 lead early in the third on his second goal of the game. Chicago’s comeback continued in the final minute, with Valimaki scoring his second of the game off a deflection off Philp’s shot. The goal came with :17 remaining in regulation and was assisted by Philp and Suzuki.
Shaw sealed the win for the Marlies in overtime, scoring his second goal of the game and second of the night to give Toronto the 5-4 victory.
Artur Akhtyamov made 28 saves for the win in net, while Chicago’s Cayden Primeau stopped 27 shots but took the loss. Shaw led the Marlies with two goals and two assists, while Valimaki and Philp each recorded two points for the Wolves.

With the win, the Marlies now lead the series 2-0. Game 3 is set for Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Toronto’s Coca-Cola Coliseum. The Wolves will look to avoid going down 3-0 in the series before the home crowd.
