Anaheim Ducks forward Troy Terry will undergo surgery to address chronic hip impingement, potentially sidelining him for the start of the 2024-25 NHL season. The news comes after Terry played a key role in the Ducks' playoff run, tallying 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 12 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Ducks' postseason run ended on May 14 with a 5-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Western Conference Second Round. Terry, who finished the regular season with 57 points (19 goals, 38 assists) in 61 games, had battled multiple injuries this season. He missed 11 games in January due to an upper-body injury and nine games after the Olympic break for the 2026 Winter Games for the same issue.
Terry’s potential absence raises questions about the Ducks' offensive depth heading into next season. His five-year streak of 19+ goals and 50+ points is at risk of ending if he misses significant time.
Anaheim also dealt with multiple injuries during the playoffs. Forward Cutter Gauthier, who led the Ducks with 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 12 playoff games, suffered a transverse process fracture in his back on March 30 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Gauthier returned after missing five games and shared his experience on May 15:
"I broke the L1 and L2 vertebrae in my back. Wasn't a very fun one for sure, having a broken back and not being able to play at your best. Got back as soon as I could. Lot shorter than what the docs and trainers thought so kudos to them for putting in all the work to get me back healthy. It was a weird injury for sure. I was thankful to the training staff that I was able to get back as fast as I did and get close to 100 percent to play. It was definitely lingering in the playoffs for sure."

Defenseman Radko Gudas sat out the final round of the first round against the Edmonton Oilers with a sprained ankle. Forward Ryan Poehling missed Game 6 of the second round due to a concussion but has since been cleared of symptoms.
With several key players recovering from injuries, the Ducks will rely heavily on their training staff and medical team as they prepare for training camp next season. The team’s ability to stay healthy will be crucial in their pursuit of a deeper playoff run in 2024-25.
