The St. Louis Blues are expected to be aggressive in their pursuit of a top-three pick at the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, with Jordan Kyrou rumored to be part of a potential blockbuster deal with the San Jose Sharks.
TSN’s Darren Dreger reported that the Blues are exploring ways to move up in the draft, possibly using Kyrou and one of their first-round picks, No. 11 or No. 15, to secure the second or third overall selection. This comes as the Sharks are rumored to be considering trading down from the top spot.
The Blues currently hold three first-round picks in the 2026 draft, including the No. 11 and No. 15 selections acquired from the Detroit Red Wings on March 6 in exchange for defenseman Justin Faulk. Faulk, who signed a five-year, $27.5 million contract with the Red Wings, is expected to bolster their blue line.
Alex Steen, who officially becomes the Blues’ general manager on July 1, is expected to look for a strong statement move to set the tone for his tenure. Steen has been linked to pursuing top prospects like Ivar Stenberg or Caleb Malhotra, with the Vancouver Canucks also reportedly interested in both.
Dreger noted that the Blues had a major trade discussion with the Anaheim Ducks at the trade deadline. While that deal never materialized, it showed the Blues’ willingness to move significant assets for the right return. Kyrou, who recorded 13 goals and 29 assists in 57 games last season, could be the centerpiece of a new blockbuster.

The Sharks would gain a proven forward in Kyrou and a top-15 pick in return for giving up the No. 1 overall selection. For the Blues, the move would give them a chance to land a generational prospect while adding depth in the draft.
No official offer has been made by the Blues for the top pick, but Dreger believes a deal is possible if the Sharks are open to trading down.
The 2026 NHL Entry Draft is set for June 21-23 in Montreal. With the draft just weeks away, the Blues are expected to ramp up their trade talks in hopes of securing a top-three pick.

The Toronto Blue Jays are counting on Max Scherzer and Shane Bieber to provide much-needed stability in their starting rotation as the season progresses. Scherzer, 41, is expected to return from the injured list in early to mid-June after a rehab assignment. Bieber, also on the IL, will begin a reha
