Cincinnati 6, Miami 3 (10 innings)
The Reds pulled off a dramatic rally to beat the Marlins 6-3 in 10 innings on Tuesday night at loanDepot park, fueled by a six-run explosion in the ninth and 10th innings. Matt McLain was the catalyst, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs, including a key double off Sandy Alcantara that started the comeback.
Miami entered the ninth with a 3-0 lead and Alcantara on the mound, having thrown 8.2 innings of shutout baseball. The right-hander had allowed just one extra-base hit all season before McLain’s double off a 91.2 mph changeup. The Reds then loaded the bases and eventually tied the game on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly.
The Reds have now won five straight games, including three of their last six in games where they scored two runs or fewer. Their resilience has been a theme in a stretch where they’ve found ways to win despite limited offensive production.
With one out in the ninth, McLain's double ignited the rally. Elly De La Cruz followed with a walk, stole second, and came around to score on a wild pitch and a throwing error. Sal Stewart drove in McLain with a sacrifice fly, and Eugenio Suárez drew a walk to load the bases. Then, Anthony Bender’s 85.6 mph slider bounced in front of the plate, allowing De La Cruz to score and tie the game at 3.
The Reds carried that momentum into the 10th. Tyler Stephenson drew a walk, Nathaniel Lowe singled to bring in automatic runner Spencer Steer, and TJ Friedl walked to load the bases. McLain delivered again with a double to left, scoring two and giving Cincinnati a 5-3 lead.
John King closed out the game with a groundout, and Graham Ashcraft finished the 10th with a double play, sealing the comeback win. Ashcraft improved to 4-2 on the season, while the Reds moved to 35-39 on the year.
McLain’s two RBIs in the late innings were key, as the Reds managed just one hit in the first eight innings. The Marlins, meanwhile, fell to 34-40 after failing to hold a late lead for the second time in three games.
The Reds now head to Pittsburgh for a three-game series starting on Wednesday. The Marlins look to regroup as they continue their home stand.

The San Antonio Spurs edged the Dallas Mavericks 114-109 on Friday night, but the story was not the win. It was Victor Wembanyama’s 40-point, 13-rebound performance in just 26 minutes, a calculated move to reach the 65-game threshold required for regular-season award eligibility.
