TITLE: Galaxy Face Toluca in CCC Quarterfinals as Both Teams Seek Revival
LA Galaxy will look to end their winless MLS run when they face Toluca FC in the first leg of their Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday. The match kicks off at 11 pm ET from Estadio Nemesio Díez in Toluca, Mexico. The return leg will take place at Dignity Health Sports Park on April 15.
Toluca arrives on the back of a dominant 4-0 performance in the second leg of their Round of 16 clash with San Diego FC. Jesús Angulo was the standout, scoring twice as the Mexican giants advanced with a 6-3 aggregate. Paulinho and Jesús Gallardo also found the net, combining for four of Toluca’s five goals in the series. However, the Diablos Rojos have struggled in recent LIGA MX action, losing their last three matches, including a 1-0 setback at Querétaro on Saturday.
The Galaxy, meanwhile, have their own hurdles to overcome. They sit at 0-4-0 in their last four MLS matches, most recently falling 2-1 at home to Minnesota United on Matchday 6. But in continental play, they have been a different team. Gabriel Pec led the way in the Round of 16 with five goals, including a hat trick in the first leg against Mount Pleasant. João Klauss added a goal in the same series as the Galaxy swept the Jamaican side 6-0 on aggregate.
This marks the second meeting between the Galaxy and Toluca in the Champions Cup, with the first taking place in 2011. Toluca won that tie 4-2 on aggregate. Now, with the Galaxy looking to break a four-game MLS losing streak and Toluca aiming to build on their recent continental success, the stage is set for a high-stakes encounter.
Fans can watch the match in English on FS2 and in Spanish on TUDN. The winner of this series will face the victor of the LAFC vs. Cruz Azul matchup in the semifinals, with the final set for May 30.

The San Antonio Spurs edged the Dallas Mavericks 114-109 on Friday night, but the story was not the win. It was Victor Wembanyama’s 40-point, 13-rebound performance in just 26 minutes, a calculated move to reach the 65-game threshold required for regular-season award eligibility.
