MLS NEXT has unveiled its Best XIs for the 2026 Generation adidas Cup, recognizing standout performances from U-15 and U-16 players across the international youth tournament in Florida. Valencia CF dominated the U-15 Best XI with four selections, while FC Copenhagen and Red Bull Bragantino led the U-16 category. Players from Major League Soccer clubs like Atlanta United, Seattle Sounders FC, and St. Louis CITY SC also made the grade, showcasing the depth of young talent in the league.
Ethan Djahaury of Toulouse FC was named the U-15 goalkeeper of the tournament. Valencia CF’s Iker Frías Barrajon and Pablo Jiménez Luque both earned spots as defenders and midfielders, with Frías winning the Defensive MVP and Jiménez taking home the overall MVP from adidas. Cristopher Batiz of the Sounders led all U-15 scorers with six goals, helping Seattle reach the final. Mason Moskau of Atlanta United impressed at right-back, contributing to the team's run to the quarterfinals.
In the U-16 Best XI, FC Copenhagen and Red Bull Bragantino were well represented. Villads Bille of Copenhagen was the standout goalkeeper, while Joebis Ferreira Pereira and Tristan Christensen each earned individual honors. Kane Kraus of St. Louis CITY SC was the tournament’s top scorer with six goals, including a hat trick against Busan IPark. Simeon Cruickshank of Vancouver Whitecaps FC also had a standout week, scoring four goals and netting game-winners against Nagoya Grampus and FC Cincinnati.
MLS clubs benefited from the exposure as young players like Gonzalo Riveras (Atlanta United) and Abdoulaye Diop (Philadelphia Union) made strong cases for future call-ups. With Generation adidas participants often transitioning into professional careers, these performances could shape the next wave of talent in MLS and beyond.
The Generation adidas Cup serves as a key platform for young players to showcase their skills on a global stage. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup just a year away, these performances could influence national team selections and youth development pathways. The next opportunity for these players to shine will come during the 2026 MLS NEXT Playoffs, where they will look to continue their strong form.
