The Toronto Raptors edged the Miami Heat 110-106 at Scotiabank Arena on Thursday, April 9, in a tightly contested Eastern Conference clash that featured playoff-level intensity. Brandon Ingram led the Raptors with 24 points, while Scottie Barnes added 18 points and 9 rebounds. On the Heat side, Bam Adebayo tallied a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds, and Tyler Herro contributed 20 points and 5 assists.
With the Eastern Conference playoff race reaching a fever pitch, the Raptors (44-35) tightened their grip on the sixth seed, while the Heat (41-38) remain mired in 10th place. Toronto’s balanced attack and home-court energy proved too much for Miami, which struggled to find consistent rhythm in a hostile environment.
Ingram was the catalyst for Toronto’s offense, shooting 9-of-16 from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. His ability to create off the dribble and stretch the floor forced Miami’s defense into uncomfortable rotations. Barnes, meanwhile, was a force in transition and on the boards, finishing with 6 assists and 3 steals.
Miami leaned heavily on Adebayo’s dominance in the paint, where he shot 10-of-14 and outscored Jakob Poeltl 22-14. Herro kept the Heat within striking distance, hitting 8-of-14 from the field and connecting on 4 three-pointers. Jimmy Butler, however, struggled with just 12 points on 4-of-13 shooting.
Defensively, the Raptors controlled the tempo and limited Miami’s ability to run. Toronto held the Heat to just 40.3% shooting from the field and forced 13 turnovers. The Raptors also outrebounded the Heat 48-42, with Poeltl and Barnes combining for 16 boards.
The game was decided in the final minutes when Toronto capitalized on late free throws and key stops. A 7-0 run in the fourth quarter put the Raptors ahead for good, as Miami’s high-powered offense sputtered down the stretch.
Toronto will look to build on this win when they host the Boston Celtics on Saturday, while Miami will try to climb the standings when they travel to Charlotte on Friday.

The San Antonio Spurs edged the Dallas Mavericks 114-109 on Friday night, but the story was not the win. It was Victor Wembanyama’s 40-point, 13-rebound performance in just 26 minutes, a calculated move to reach the 65-game threshold required for regular-season award eligibility.
