The Sacramento Kings are demanding first-round draft capital in ongoing trade discussions involving All-Star center Domantas Sabonis. While talks with the Charlotte Hornets remain in the early stages, the Kings are reportedly eyeing Charlotte’s No. 14 or No. 18 pick from the 2025 NBA Draft. The Hornets have not yet agreed to part with either selection.
The Kings have also inquired about the Toronto Raptors’ No. 19 pick. Toronto previously pursued Sabonis before the in-season trade deadline in February but has not re-entered the conversation. The Raptors remain active in trade talks, but their roster includes several players with long-term contracts, including Jakob Poeltl, who signed a four-year, $72 million deal in 2022.
Domantas Sabonis has been one of the league’s most dominant big men in recent seasons. The 26-year-old has led the NBA in rebounding three times and earned three All-Star selections. He averaged 20.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game during the 2023–24 season. His versatility and production make him a coveted asset for any contending team.
The Kings are looking to minimize future salary commitments in any potential trade. This has shifted their focus toward Charlotte’s Miles Bridges, who is under contract for just under $23 million next season on an expiring deal. Bridges, 25, averaged 13.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 2023–24 but has struggled with consistency and injury concerns.
Charlotte has been linked to several trade rumors this season as it looks to retool its roster. Bridges was previously a top-20 pick in 2018 but has yet to reach his full potential. The Kings see an opportunity to acquire a young, movable contract while potentially securing draft capital.
Toronto’s interest in Sabonis has not been rekindled, despite the Raptors’ recent struggles. The team finished 34–48 in 2023–24 and is expected to be active in the trade market this summer. However, their reluctance to part with young assets or take on long-term contracts could limit their options.
What comes next is clear: the Kings will continue to push for first-round picks in Sabonis trade talks. The Hornets and Raptors have yet to make a definitive offer. The 2025 NBA Draft is still months away, but teams are already positioning themselves for the summer.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to be traded by draft night as the Milwaukee Bucks continue to evaluate potential destinations. While the Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors, and Orlando Magic were previously linked to the superstar forward, they have not been active in recent discussion
