Selected by his fellow on-ice officials, the honor recognizes Radolinski's leadership, professionalism, and commitment to the league’s officiating staff. The award is named in memory of former ECHL linesman Ryan Birmingham, who passed away in a tragic automobile accident in May 2007.
Radolinski expressed deep gratitude for the recognition. “I am beyond humbled to receive the Ryan Birmingham award for the 2025-26 season,” he said. “I have always taken pride in being the best teammate I could be. Helping to mentor and be there for the officiating staff has always been a top priority for me.” He also thanked his wife, Carol, for her unwavering support through the years and acknowledged key mentors and colleagues who helped shape his career.
Radolinski began his officiating journey with USA Hockey in 1998 and joined the ECHL in 2012. Over the years, he has also worked in the American Hockey League, Federal Prospects Hockey League, and SPHL. He currently oversees scheduling for officials in several junior and youth leagues in Florida and Georgia. Radolinski has also officiated at national tournaments across multiple levels of hockey, showcasing his extensive experience and dedication to the sport.
Casey Terreri, ECHL Manager of Officiating Operations, praised Radolinski for his contributions. “It is an honor to recognize Ken for his exceptional contributions to the ECHL Officiating Team,” Terreri said. “He consistently approaches the job with a team-first mindset and has always prioritized the integrity of the game above personal recognition.”
The award will be formally presented to Radolinski during the 2026-27 season. The ECHL continues to honor Ryan Birmingham through various tributes, including a commemorative patch and a dedication in the 2007-08 rulebook. Birmingham began his officiating career at age 12 and was a full-time ECHL linesman in 2006, working 83 regular-season games and four playoff games before his passing.

The ECHL has long served as a pipeline to the NHL, with 38 former ECHL officials working in the 2025-26 season, including five who worked the Stanley Cup Final. The league’s impact on officiating development remains a critical part of the sport’s growth and integrity.
Radolinski will be formally honored during the 2026-27 season, with the presentation to take place at a date to be announced by the ECHL.
