The Minnesota Vikings made a bold move in the 2026 NFL Draft by selecting Ohio State guard Donovan Jackson in the first round. Despite lacking second and fourth-round picks, the Vikings prioritized offensive line depth by acquiring Jackson, a reliable pass protector with a strong upper body and elite strength. At 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, Jackson is expected to solidify the interior line and immediately contribute as a starter.
Jackson’s college career showed consistent production as a dominant run and pass blocker. He excelled at using his hands to control defenders and anchor against bull rushes. His ability to sustain blocks and create running lanes helped Ohio State’s ground game thrive. In 2024 alone, he started in all 13 games and played a key role in the Buckeyes’ offensive line success.
The Vikings’ decision to add Jackson follows a pattern of recent draft success at the guard position, including 2021’s Christian Darrisaw and 2022’s Ed Ingram. With a veteran-laden offensive line already in place, Jackson is projected to take over at left guard and give the Vikings a long-term solution at the position. His athleticism and physical style make him a fit for Minnesota’s zone-blocking system.
In the third round, the Vikings added Maryland wide receiver Tai Felton, a speedster with potential to develop into a solid rotational receiver. Felton brings 4.3-second 40-yard dash speed and could serve as a deep threat or return man. While not expected to start immediately, he could carve out a role behind Jordan Addison.

The Vikings also selected Penn State linebacker Kobe King in the sixth round. King, a 6-foot-1, 236-pounder, recorded nearly 100 tackles and three sacks in 2024. He’s projected to be a backup linebacker and special teams contributor. The Vikings used all three of their final-day picks to add depth.

With Jackson anchoring the interior line and Felton and King providing depth at receiver and linebacker, the 2026 class does not include a projected bust or a potential breakout star. The Vikings’ focus remained on stability and experience, with no rookie expected to rise to elite status in Year 1.
Next up for the Vikings is finalizing their roster ahead of training camp, with decisions on key free agents and contract extensions expected by July 15.
