The Vancouver Canucks have fired head coach Adam Foote and reshuffled their coaching staff following a dismal 2025–26 season that saw the team finish with a 25–49–8 record, the worst in the league.
According to Darren Dreger of TSN, sources confirm that Foote has been let go, with assistants Scott Young, Kevin Dean, and Brett McLean also being dismissed. This marks a full coaching staff overhaul as the Canucks look to reset under new ownership and new leadership.
Foote was promoted to head coach in the 2023–24 season after Rick Tocchet left to take the Philadelphia Flyers’ head coaching job. Despite having no prior head coaching experience, Foote inherited a team that had been built around the Sedins and was expected to compete. Instead, the Canucks struggled in nearly every statistical category. They ranked near the bottom in goals for and against, penalty kill, shooting percentage, save percentage, and possession metrics. Their high-danger chances were also among the worst in the league.
The team’s power play, which ranked in the middle of the pack, was the only bright spot in an otherwise bleak season. Vancouver’s struggles on the ice led to a complete rebuild in the front office, with Ryan Johnson and the Sedins taking over as co-chairmen. This coaching change is the latest step in that process.
Foote is not expected to find a new NHL coaching role immediately. Potential replacements include Craig Berube, Bruce Cassidy, and Kris Knoblauch, with internal candidate Manny Malhotra also in the mix. Malhotra, currently coaching the Canucks’ AHL affiliate in Abbotsford, has drawn attention as a possible bridge between the junior and NHL levels.

The Canucks are now looking for a new voice and a new strategy to turn around a franchise that has fallen well below expectations. With the 2026 NHL draft approaching and the Sedins and Johnson set to make their mark, Vancouver is poised to make more moves in the coming weeks.
The team has not yet announced an official replacement for Foote. As the search continues, the Canucks will aim to find a coach who can stabilize the roster and begin the long climb back to contention.

The Philadelphia 76ers are finalizing their search for a new lead basketball executive to replace Daryl Morey, with names like Matt Lloyd, Mike Gansey and Nick U'Ren among the top candidates. Bob Myers, who will oversee the executive who fills the role, is leading the process. The Sixers are seeking
