Philadelphia is set to reward goaltender Dan Vladar with a five-year contract extension averaging around $5 million annually, according to sources speaking to Kevin Weekes via X. The Czech netminder, who joined the Flyers before the 2025-26 season, has made a strong case for long-term security with a standout rookie campaign in the City of Brotherly Love.
Vladar led the Flyers to a surprise playoff berth and a first-round series win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 52 games, he posted a goals-against average of 2.42 and a save percentage of .906. His postseason performance was even more impressive, with a 2.18 GAA and .922 save percentage across 10 games.
The Flyers signed Vladar to a two-year, $6.7 million deal before the season, but his current contract will expire after the 2025-26 season. A new deal would lock him in through the 2030-31 season and provide stability for a team looking to build around its young core.
Signing Vladar to a long-term deal at $5 million annually is a calculated risk, but it’s one that could pay off if he continues to perform at a starting-caliber level. After bouncing between Boston, Calgary, and now Philadelphia, Vladar has finally found a home where he can establish himself as an NHL starter.

The deal also gives the Flyers flexibility on the back end of their roster. With a consistent starting goalie in place, general manager Danny Briere can focus on strengthening the defense and forward depth ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Vladar’s extension is expected to be finalized before the July 1 start of free agency. The Flyers will then turn their attention to other key decisions, including the status of defenseman Egor Zamula, who is reportedly at a crossroads in his career.

The Seattle Mariners are set to welcome Cal Raleigh and J.P. Crawford back from the injured list as they open a six-game homestand on Tuesday.
