LAFC Dominates Orlando 6-0 as Son Heung-Min Shines, Gozo Emerges for RSL

Los Angeles Football Club defeated Orlando City 6-0 on Saturday to extend their unbeaten streak to six matches and improve to 5-0-1 on the season. The match was a statement win for LAFC, who outclassed the Lions in every facet of the game. Son Heung-Min led the charge with four assists and a new attacking role that helped unlock the team’s scoring potential.

Son Heung-Min started in a second forward position, a tactical shift by head coach Marc Dos Santos that allowed Nathan Ordaz to handle more of the central workload. The change proved effective as Son found space to run into and create opportunities for his teammates. His second goal of the game came when he played a perfectly weighted pass to Denis Bouanga, who converted the chance with ease. Real Salt Lake’s Zavier Gozo continued to make a case for USMNT inclusion with a standout performance in a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City. The 19-year-old homegrown product recorded a goal and an assist while completing all four of his dribble attempts in the match. His second-half assist to Sergi Solans came after a clever off-ball movement that drew defenders and opened up space for the RSL striker. Gozo’s performance came as U.S. head coach Mauricio Pochettino is finalizing his World Cup roster, though it may be too late for Gozo to make the cut in 2026.

FC Dallas also made a strong statement with a 4-0 win over D.C. United, their third match in six games where they held at least 49% possession. The team’s attacking depth is growing with Ramiro and Logan Farrington combining for a goal and an assist, and Petar Musa leading the line with consistency. Dallas now sits at 4-1-1 on the season and has shown a more patient, possession-based approach under head coach Eric Quill.

Inter Miami struggled with slow starts again in a 2-2 draw with Austin FC. The hosts scored first and nearly took all three points before Luis Suárez’s late equalizer salvaged a point. Miami have now trailed in four of their first six matches, and head coach Javier Mascherano has yet to settle on a consistent starting XI. The team remains fourth in the Eastern Conference but must find more consistency if they are to challenge for the top of the table.

Chicago Fire FC delivered a defensive statement with a 1-0 win over Nashville SC. Philip Zinckernagel scored just 17 seconds into the match and the Fire held firm under pressure. The team allowed just 1.02 expected goals per game this season, a dramatic improvement from last year’s 1.75. New additions Anton Saletros, Robin Lod, and Mbekezeli Mbokazi have helped solidify the backline, and Chicago now sits at 3-2-1 on the season.
