The Memphis Grizzlies have officially signed guard Lucas Williamson to a second 10-day contract. The move comes after Williamson impressed during his initial stint with the team, averaging 9.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists over five games. The 27-year-old has been a standout in his last two contests, posting 16.5 points per game.
Williamson spent the 2025-26 season in the NBA G League, playing for both the Memphis Hustle and the Windy City Bulls. Over 46 games, he started 15 times and averaged 7.2 points in 23.7 minutes. His performance in the G League earned him a look at the NBA level, where he has continued to show value with his versatility and defensive instincts.
A product of Loyola Chicago, Williamson went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft after five seasons with the Ramblers. During his college career, he was named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year in both 2021 and 2022. He also helped Loyola Chicago reach the 2018 NCAA Final Four, one of the most memorable runs in school history.
The Grizzlies have been active in evaluating young talent as they continue to build for the future. By extending Williamson’s stay, they give him another opportunity to prove he can contribute at the NBA level. Williamson’s contract is a 10-day deal, which gives the team flexibility to evaluate his fit before making a long-term decision.
Memphis now has until the end of the 10-day window to decide whether to convert Williamson into a two-way contract or sign him to a standard deal. The Grizzlies could also choose to waive him if they feel he isn’t the right fit. With the regular season winding down, the team is looking for any edge, and Williamson’s energy and defense could be valuable in the final stretch.
The Grizzlies will next take on the Utah Jazz on April 10. The game will be a key opportunity for Williamson to showcase his abilities on a bigger stage.
